warning: i'm blogging about drumming today and YOU will probably be damn bored.
so i was waiting for my lesson to start, and hensen beng (my ex-drum teacher) started talking to me about how i should play the drums for st mary's. and then during my lesson with richard ang, he told me that maybe i should join a band. in my church. wow, coindental much? and this was my first lesson after my last shooting training on tuesday, when miss au was telling us how the competition's gonna be shifted to march and we hafta train our asses off 3 times a week starting next year. so these past 2 days i've been thinking (sadly) about quitting drumming because i probably won't be able to handle everything next year. this is damn sad lah! and now of course, both hensen beng and richard ang made me feel even sadder. AAAAAAHHHHH dammit, i love drumming. but i seriously need to quit soon. oh drumming, i heart you! now i also regret having put psalm 91 as my 2nd choice for PA instead of my 1st choice ):
now for the happier, not-so-emo part: i learnt to play coldplay's yellow today. which is by far, my favourite song out of all the songs i've learnt. it isn't my favourite song to play though. sad but true. anyway, for the first time ever, richard ang made me laugh non-stop today. because his student before me had this flu thing going on. so richard ang barred me from entering the room because he wanted to let all the germs in the room disappear first. then he went to look for a spray but couldn't find one, so brought in a cup of hot water into the room instead. and he still wouldn't allow me to enter the room, so we sat outside for a while. and then finally, when we entered the room, he said to me, "don't worry, we're entering this room together. nothing will happen to you." HAHAHAHAHAHA.
i love my weekly half-hour affairs with the drum set in room 6.

zomg, gallas was stripped of his captaincy at arsenal.
zomg, arsenal lost 3-0 to man city.
zomg, liverpool drew 0-0 with fulham.
but it's okay, cos chelsea and man u had 0-0 draws too.
risen christ confi took 2 awefully long hours (mostly because we were squashed up and freezing). i couldn't get sunflowers this time cos it was $4.60 for a stalk ): so i got gerbera daisies instead. okay, so call me a cheapo. anyway, i think ij people took up half the church. hahaha, awesome! next up: holy spirit confi.

shopped with ah-man-dah see in orchard today! after like, forever! she told me that if her future husband watches football, she'd make him stop. zomg, poor husband. he'd be deprived of his manhood! i, on the other hand, would make my future husband support arsenal or liverpool (or both!) if he wasn't already a supporter.
i bought myself a volcom tee and now i'm so happy! i have a thing for all things volcom (:
hello santa. my wishlist for this year would be
1. porcupine print yakpak backpack
2. indie rock metal punk fourskin tee
3. volcom/havaiana flip flops

svdp confi yesterday was quite funny! saw quite a few random people, like mrs morier! HAHAHAHA. only bought a sunflower for mars, and i felt damn bad! but anyway! the ij girls, the sji boys and 1 other group performed during the reception, which was quite cool except that there was everything but a drum set. and i swear, arielle was smiling to herself the whole time while jerome dass was singing! hahaha, so cute lah!
dinner at serangoon gardens after that with the family! qinyue and celeste were both there having dinner too, and it's quite funny cos they both sit next to me during class. hahahaha, weird much!

i woke up at 1.30 today and therefore couldn't go shopping with ah-man-dah-see as planned weeks ago. SORRY AH-MAN-DAH-SEE! I HOPE YOU ENJOY YOURSELF AT CONFI CAMP TO MAKE UP FOR IT!
oh, my drums teacher told me that i could read notes well, especially since i never played any other instruments. hee hee hee hee.
anyway, CHIANG RAI!
random facts about the trip:
1. the stars were freaking amazing. they covered almost the whole sky in clusters. awesome much.
2. the weather was quite kuku. the 1st night there was damn hot! but then the next night and the nights after, it dropped to 8 degrees celsius. and then in the morning it'll be about 11 degrees celsius while in the day it'll be all sunny and warm.
3. the hmong tribe village was a damn nice place! it was very picturesque and all, with bamboo trees surrounding nice huts made of bricks and straw roofs, accompanied by mountains in the background.
4. i never realised how much of a paedophile i was. i only interacted with cute small boys, NEVER girls.
5. i was surrounded by 4 cute boys during meals! mu ti chai, theerasak, nam chook & thad jai! oh i love the cuties!
6. theerasak lor mak mak. i swear he's gonna grow up to be damn hot!
7. here's looking at you, kid.
8. i loved the food at the mission centre! and i had never eaten so much veggies and pork in all my life.
9. i didn't bother to wash my face with facial wash for 5 nights straight, and my face didn't feel the least bit oily.
10. there's this wooden house at the front of the land, which some rich woman built so that she can stay in whenever she visits. and it was damn nice cos it's all wooden and all, like some resort spa place. and i went in there on the last day to pee! it was like paradise, cos i had an actual toilet bowl to pee in for the 1st time in days.
now for the recount! which is gonna be damn boring for you guys, but not for me. cos it'll allow me to look back on the trip a few years from now and not have to regret not writing about the trip down somewhere, like how i'm regretting not posting about india.
day 1!
the whole day was spent traveling, which was super tiring. we checked into the airport at 6 am, and i never fell asleep once throughout the journey. stoopid. so anyway, we flew to bangkok and transitted there for like, 3-4 hours. and the place had nothing! except for a few hot ang mohs, HAHAHA! also, i managed to get mango sticky rice, which left me quite happy. and then we flew to chiang rai. we went to big c first, which is this huge supermarket. we shopped for A LOT of snacks cos they were so cheap, especially the tim tams and dewberry. and then, dinner at the food court followed by ice cream at swensens. then we drove all the way up to the mission centre which took 2 and a half hours. i loved the drive up! i recognised one place from last year, on the way to the golden triangle. quite cool. and, i fell in love with the chiang rai stars on the way up.
day 2!
a few of us woke up at 5 plus to bathe cos we didn't bother queuing up the night before. the water was freeeeezing, and my teeth were chattering the whole way through. but it was quite an experience. and then we spent the day working in the fields. we cleared the land outside the mission centre first, with gardening tools. i used the hoe and rake for the 1st time in my life. some used parangs, which was so cool. anyway we sucked at it. the kids helped us, and even those half our ages did way better than us. they were laughing at us lah! which made them cuter, hahaha. and then we beat rice (beatrice literally lived up to her name!) in 2 ways. one was to hold a stack of padi and then thrash them on some wooden thing, while the other was to use bamboo poles to beat the stacks of padi. i got a blister for the 1st time in months. awesome.
day 3!
mass in the chapel. i was missing cat class back in s'pore! but mass there was pretty cool. half was in english, half was in thai. we learnt our first thai song! which was some hymn composed by the priest there. the kids all knew their mass stuff, even though majority weren't catholics. cool. and then, interaction with the kids continued for the rest of the day.
day 4!
we cleared more land in the garden, for a short while. and then we sat on pickup trucks and went to the hmong tribe village to hand out food to the people. i loved the village! i wouldn't mind retiring there with amanda pai. and then we went to the provision shop, where we stocked up on more snacks. it's quite gross that the money we brought to thailand is only spent on food :/
day 5!
we went to 2 schools which the kids at the mission centre go to. the 1st was called dream school. it's quite a prestigious school, so only a few kids go there cos the fees are high and all. the school was really quite a nice place. and some students speak chinese, which was weird but cool. and then we went to the other school, where all the other kids go. it was quite weird cos the kids were playing outside their classrooms. the 2 schools were so damn different, it was quite eye-opening. at night, it was the performances by both sides! most kids did their tribal dances. the group of older boys breakdanced, and it was damn funny. and then it ended with this fire thing by the boys, which was breath-taking! everyone was mesmerised by it. some played fire crackers, some walked on stilts, some jumped through fire hoops, some blew the fire torches. and a few girls played the drums. it was way too cool. and i was freezing my ass off. and then cos it was the last night, it was kinda sad. each kid hugged everyone, it was so sweet! the older guys told us not to cry and wished us merry christmas & happy new year, and it was quite funny.
day 6!
in the morning, we woke up super early to have breakfast with the kids before we saw them off for school. and then we went back to big c to shop for more snacks. we lunched at kfc, ew. but i had a blizzard from dq which made up for it. plus it was less than a dollar when you convert it back. and then we reached chiang rai airport and took a long time to check in cos the counter people were freaking slow. transitted at bangkok for 1 hour! i was so sad! cos i didn't have time to look for mango sticky rice and we couldn't shop much either. we spent most of the time in bookstores. i ended up buying 2 books (: watched casablanca on the way back, but i didn't finish watching it cos the pilot kept making announcements in both thai and english! bleah! btw, thai airways food is damn salty.
i miss the chiang rai stars and weather ):

ZOMGGGGGGGG THE GOSSIP GIRL DVD CAME OUT IN S'PORE. and i want it!!!!!!!!!!! even though i have the episodes on the computer, heh. plus the dvd features are so damn cool. it's nc16 though, what the hell. and grey's season 4 is m18 -.-
i need a confi name before i leave for chiang rai. bleah! i hate the fact that i'm missing cat class next sunday because of chiang rai. 1) it gives me less time to choose a name, 2) i don't know if my confi card will get to linda on time (if it doesn't, she might not let me get confirmed :/) and 3) i won't get to see my hot guy. i'm so pissed that they didn't tell us that we had to hand up our confi cards by sunday lah! stooopid.
went to hard rock for the 2nd time in 3 days, heeee. today's lunch sucked though. because i had to strain my ears to listen to the rock music, which is what i love most about hard rock. saddddd.
in sports, liverpool lost 2-1 to tottenham! and hamilton won f1, ew.
and training starts tomorrow, oh mannnnnnnn. it actually started last friday and i ponned cos of dental, so i probably shouldn't be complaining.
my orthodontist repositioned my metal brackets! which meant that he had to remove the cement on my teeth and place new cement. gross. and now my braces are like the ones at the very beginning -- individual rubber bands which means that i might swallow them all. and i chose gold cos i didn't know what he was gonna do and thought that it'd still be the chains, so my braces didn't turn out as bling bling as i'd hoped.
and now i regret having signed up for the chiang rai trip :/
